Wizards of the Coast plans at least 24 Commander precons in 2027, with four or more attached to each of the year’s six major sets, according to Wargamer’s report published October 12. That minimum excludes Secret Lair decks and other supplemental Commander releases, so the actual total could climb higher, because apparently the format’s product shelf was feeling underemployed. For context, 2025 produced 14 precons, while 2026 is slated for 24 overall, but only 17 tied directly to mainline sets, leaving several releases without decks. The upside is more choice and more opportunities for Commander-focused reprints; the downside is a year of decklists arriving with the regularity of a metronome.
